Cuvee Jean Paul Sec 2018    V V                                                                7.40
This was the first wine I ever listed way back in time. It quickly became a big favourite
and was for donkeys  years was  the house white in the much-missed Sportsman in Strines.

A deliciously aromatic, bright and zingy dry white produced in Gascony from a blend of 75% Colombard and 25% Ugni Blanc grapes. A fresh nose of lime, basil and freshly cut grass. The
palate continues with apples and pears. A great quaffer which goes very well with a fish supper.

Honore de Berticot Sauvignon 2019 (IGP Atlantique)   V                                                                          8.75

Picture
For many years we have been extolling the virtues of this fabulous, prize-winning wine from South-west France where the cooling sea breezes from the Atlantic provide  white wines of exceptional freshness. Lively and well rounded and beautifully balanced with loads of green  fruit flavours. Perfect with simply fried fish or with dill sauce..

Les Volets Chardonnay 2018 (Pays de la Haute Valley de l'Aude)                                               9.25
Pinched between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, the High Valley of the Aude benefits from a warm climate combined
with high altitude, which results in wines with concentrated fruit yet refreshing acidity. Made from mostly hand-picked grapes,
80% of this Chardonnay is fermented in stainless steel and 20% in old oak for a well-textured, succulent style with a subtly savoury
finish. Green apple and brioche notes and toasted hazlenut twist. For those looking for a high qualtiy Chardonnay, this punches well above its weight. Match it with Baked chicken with a creamy sauce, wild mushroom risotto or pasta with clams in white wine.

Les Volets Chenin Blanc 2019 (Pays de la Haute Vallée de l’Aude)                                         9.25
The Chenin Blanc grape variety originally hails from the Loire Valley before it was planted near Limoux in the Haute Vallée
de L’Aude. Here in the south, where it is planted at altitude on the cooler, steep hillside slopes of clay and limestone in the
foothills of the Pyrenees, it is one of the latest varieties to be picked, achieving full ripeness yet retaining a refreshing crispness.
This ripe yet crunchy fruit gives this wine its freshness, vigour and spine as well as its luscious, creamy texture, which is further complemented and enriched from partial vinification and maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak.
Bright and citrussy,  aromas of melon lead to a densely fruity, peachy palate with great texture and a clean finish
Wonderful with warmly spiced dishes - Thai red curries and aromatic rice, spicy mango salads.

Domaine de Moulin Muscadet Sur Lie 2019 (Val de Loire)                                              9.50
Gorgeous "retro" dry white hand-crafted by the amazing Roger Boisdron in his boutique winery in the Loire Valley
.....light years away from the cheap Muscadet served up in the 70s.  Heady aromas of over-ripe pears which also come
through on the palate.
Fresh, dry and refreshing with the characteristic tingle on the tongue which typifies "sur lie" wines.
Gorgeous!

La Fleur Solitaire Cotes du Rhone  Blanc  2019  V V  Organic                                                    11.25
Produced from a blend of Grenache Blanc 50%, Viognier 20%, and  Roussanne 7.5% deep in the southern Rhone region.
Vinified in stainless steel with about a quarter then matured in oak barriques to add finesse and complexity. The nose is pretty and
delicate, with a waft of fennel tops and hints of hedgerow flowers.  On the palate is a veritable fruit salad whose flavours are nuanced
and refined rather than overt. Careful use of oak adds texture and structure without masking the freshness of this very drinkable white.                  A lovely apéritif and great  with light starters and grilled fish.

Vouvray "Les Coteaux Tufiers " 2016 ( LoireValley)    Organic                                                      11.25   There is a massive gap in the market for medium wines, and this Chenin Blanc produced from old vines fills it splendidly.
Concentrated, luscious, honeyed, fruit, balanced by delicious zesty flavours and well balanced acidity.

Goes beautifully with goats cheese and with chicken or pork tenderloin in a marsalla sauce.
The more adventurous may like to try it with smoked fish.

Duc de Morny Picpoul de Pinet 2019           V                                                                                          10.25

Picture
Absolutely gorgeous dry, fruity white from this multi-award winning winery on the Mediterranean coast where cooling sea breezes add a salty edge. Floral and enticing on the nose, exuberantly fresh on the palate with concentrated fruit, citrus notes and  hints of pear drops. Immediately appealing classic French elegance  produced from Chardonnay grapes.  Unoaked with good depth of flavour and
underlying finesse that provides wonderful length and unfolding flavours. Meadow flowers on the nose with  greengages for the palate, and some lemongrass for the final notes.  An extremely versatile wine that can be enjoyed alone or with food – delicious alongside grilled fish  chicken in cream sauce (poulet à la crème), asparagus & mushroom risotto, fish chowder, a traditional roast chicken with all the trimmings, or cheese platter - particularly goat's cheese.

35% is fermented in small oak barrels as this fuller -bodied wine benefits from more oak influence.
It spends several months ageing on the yeast lees to add extra complexity. Rich,, rounded style, with aromas of
buttered toast yet with classic mineral tones, and fresh lemon on the finish.
Delicious with white fish in a creamy sauce and all shapes and sizes of seafood.
